Michael Woods is the Executive Vice President at Potestivo & Associates P.C. and currently serves as the chair of the new Publication’s Committee for Legal League. His firm was one of the initial members when the Legal League was first established and has been an active attendee and participant over the years. They took a brief hiatus during COVID, but rejoined with an eagerness to get involved and help promote the industry. While this is Michael’s first leadership role with the Legal League, he’s been a roundtable participant and conversation starter at several group events.
When asked what drives his commitment to his craft and industry, Michael replied:
I think it was Lexus that came out with the tagline, “the relentless pursuit of perfection,” and that phrase has always stuck with me. The drive comes from a desire to always build on what I’m doing in an effort to improve the lives of the people around me. Can a process be simplified? Can I enhance communication with coworkers and clients? Can I have a positive impact on the industry, on my profession? For me, it is the constant effort to make things better.
What are some insights or at least one piece of advice you wish you would have known when you first started in the industry?
Be humble, surround yourself with great people, and never stop asking questions.
What is top of mind for you in your business right now? (topic, industry trend, or idea)
For me, it’s working to enhance our tech, our processes, and our workflows, to maximize efficiencies and create the best client experience possible. With the uncertainty and fluctuations in the economy, my goal is for our organization to be as prepared as possible for whatever we face.
How has being a member of a trade association resulted in business growth for you?
It has been a great opportunity to routinely interact with colleagues and clients on both a personal and professional level. There is a lot of movement in the industry, and the Legal League has provided an exceptional opportunity to stay on top of the latest news, trends, and strategies. We’ve been able to develop new client relationships as a result of our activity and participation in Legal League events.
What legacy industry impact would you most desire to be known for?
Awards and accolades are great and all, but my hope is to be known in the industry for my commitment to friendship, hard work, loyalty, and civility.
