DALLAS–March 20, 2020—Five Star Global, parent company of the Five Star Institute and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors, today announced the cancellation of its May conferences and member meetings: The American Mortgage Diversity Council’s Spring Member Meeting, Five Star’s Diversity Symposium “Converge” and The Legal League 100 Spring Servicer Summit.
The conferences were scheduled between May 6 and May 14 in New Orleans and Dallas.
“In response to the recent CDC recommendations, updates from the White House, and proactive guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we knew we must cancel these events,” said Ed Delgado, CEO of Five Star Global. “At this point, we are dealing with a health crisis and the decision, while disappointing, is mandatory for us.”
On Monday the CDC recommended organizers “cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.”
“Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities,” the CDC said in its new guidelines.
Five Star is closely following updates about COVID-19 from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The organizer previously cancelled its March and April conferences, Single-Family Rental Summit and the Five Star Government Forum in Dallas and Washington, D.C., respectively.
